The Randall Street Bridge will temporarily be closing as part of the bridge replacement project. As of March 18, the bridge, which connects North Main Street to Charles Street will close for approximately 8 months.
The RIDOT says northbound traffic on Charles Street will be routed onto Corliss Street to Industrial Drive to North Main Street. Traffic on North Main Street headed to Charles Street will be routed to turn right onto Mill Street.
"We recognize that this closure and detour will impact the surrounding neighborhood, yet it is essential to close the bridge during construction to enable us to reopen it sooner," said RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis.
The bridge only encompasses a small portion of the street that travels over the Mohassuck River. The rest of the road will remain open to allow access to businesses.
Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT's Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional information can be found on RIDOT's social media sites Twitter and Facebook.
