The Hess truck may not be back. Hess has announced it is getting out of the gas station business and focusing its efforts on "exploration and production."
All the gas stations spanning the East Coast will be closed or sold says the company.
A month ago Hess's hedge fund Elliot Management accused the company of a "decade of failure."
The company's shares fell dramatically during the recession, however, last summer the stock shares began to incline again.
The New York based company was not clear about its future plans but it also announced
plans to close a New Jersey oil refinery and to sell its U.S. oil storage terminals.
There are over a dozen Hess Stations in Rhode Island.
