Tiverton High School was on lock down status on Friday afternoon after a magazine of ammunition was discovered in a school bathroom.
The school was immediately put on a "code red" status and doors were locked and students were told to get to a safe place.
One mother told ABC6 that her daughter texted her during the day saying she was "hiding" in the boys locker room.
Police from Tiverton and the surrounding area responded to the school with k9 units. The dogs sniffed out the school and all lockers were searched. No weapons were uncovered.
The school was taken off lock down shortly after 2 p.m. and students were dismissed.
A formal winter dance for Friday evening has been canceled although school will be open on Monday.
