Hendricken, Hope, Westerly, and Classical Win Opening Round State Games

The Boys Open State Tournament began with an upset as Hendricken defeated 2nd seeded LaSalle, 59 to 54. The Hawks advance to play Hope. The Blue Wave held off Coventry thanks to a pair of free throws by Manny Kargo with 4.7 seconds left. Hope survives, 65 to 63.

At Rhode Island College. Westerly held off North Providence 62 to 58. The Bulldogs will play top seeded Classical on Sunday at PC. the Purple had to rally to beat West Warwick, 50 to 47.
