A man who was released from jail on parole after serving 18-years for killing his girlfriend was arraigned on another murder charge in Providence county District Court on Wednesday.
Andrew Jett is accused of beating his girlfriend, 50-year-old Michelle Busby, to death in her East Providence apartment last August.
Initially Jett was named as a person of interest in the crime and has been detained as a parole violator after he was taken into custody in Maryland. Jett turned himself into Baltimore police a week after the Busby murder. He was then extradited to Rhode Island where he has been held at the ACI.
In 1992 Jett was sentenced to 40-years for killing his girlfriend Stephanie Oxendine of North Kingstown. After serving 18 years he was paroled in 2010.
