A Providence Police officer has been fired after admitting to having sex while on-duty.
Khatchig Kazandjain, a 15-year member of the Providence Police Force, was terminated on Jan. 24 for dereliction of duty after admitting to authorities he had sex with a woman while on a domestic violence call. During the period of time he was with the woman he had missed several calls including a shots fire called.
Kazandjian found drugs and drug paraphernalia on the woman when he was on the scene. He says she offered him "sexual favors" and he responded, "Okay if that's your thrill, no problem."
In May, the woman accused Kazandjain of rape but a Grand Jury declined criminal charges.
Police say Kazandjain never had any other incidents in his time with the force.
Kazandjain put in his formal resignation the day after he was officially terminated. He now has the options of appealing the decision to Superior Court.
Officials are moving to have Kazandjain stripped of his rights to his pension benefits.
