Man impersonates officer and assaults woman in Wareham

Police in Wareham Mass., are on the look out for a man in his 40's who impersonated a police officer and attacked a woman with a flashlight.

On Saturday Jan. 5 at approximately 9 p.m. a woman was signaled to pull over on Main St. by a man posing as a police officer.

The 29-year-old woman said the man who signaled her to pull over used a blue light in his dark mid style SUV or pick up truck.

When she pulled over the man approached her vehicle and informed her she had a defective tail light and asked her for her to step out from the vehicle. The woman said she then began to sense the man was not a police officer so she began to drive away and her struck her with his flashlight.

The woman fled the scene and contacted police. The man is described as 5'8" tall with dark hair and a distinctive Adam's apple.
