Former Pop Warner Coach Charged With Child Molestation
By: ABC6 News Staff
Jesse Perry, 58, of Fall River was arraigned today on charges of child molestation. State and local police arrested Perry on Friday in Middletown at his place of work. He is charged with one count each of first and second degree child molestation.
Perry was involved with the Bristol Little League and Pop Warner Football. Last spring he retired from Dighton Middle School where he taught math for 30 years. The Dighton-Rehoboth Superintendent says the school department is cooperating with investigators on the case, and notes he was not an employee at the time of the incident.
Last month Perry's younger brother, Richard Perry, 55, of Warren, was indicted on two counts each of first and second degree child molestation. Richard Perry is a former custodian at Kickemuit Middle School in Warren and was also involved with the Little League and Pop Warner teams. It's unclear if the Perry brothers are charged with molesting the same boy, or if the two cases are even related.
Jesse Perry is also facing additional gun charges out of Fall River. During their investigation officers seized two pistols and a rifle from his Beattie St. apartment. As a result Perry is charged with 3 counts of Possessing a firearm without a FID card, one count of Possessing ammunition without a FID card and Improper storage of a firearm.
Both brothers are being held at the ACI. Jesse Perry was ordered to stay away from the juvenile. The Perry's are both due back in court later this month.
