Fire fighters rescued a woman from a late night fire in Acushnet Mass., on Sunday evening.
The 52-year-old woman, who has been identified as Karen Szymczyk, was airlifted to Rhode Island hospital with serious burns and respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation. She is currently listed in critical condition.
Szymczyk was the only individual in the home at the time of the fire.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Sunday night and one on duty firefighter arrived to find smoke billowing out of the second story window of the two-story building. Two other firefighters were also called to the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
