Holiday travelers bristle at airline cancellations and delays

WARWICK, R.I. - For some, the usual hustle and bustle of holiday travel at the T .F. Green Airport is met with an extra headache.

Many families will be headed home for the holidays, and lots of them are concerned about how the winter storm that canceled thousands of flights in the Midwest is going to affect them.

"We've been watching the weather channel and it doesn't look very good," Said traveler Bob Woolling of California.

The backlash of cancellations is having a domino effect on flights across the country. One Cape Cod couple hopes to be on their way to Chicago, where one of the hardest-hit airports is.

Fortunately, they received some good news during their anxious wait at T.F. green. "Our flight is on time, leaves about 5:30," Said traveler Dan Goggin. "We're a little bit early."

However, not all travelers will be as lucky. The back-up at major airports, coupled with strong wind and winter weather advisories in the Northeast, are creating delays at the Warwick airport.

One family spoke to ABC6 News and told us they had been facing a six-hour delay on their way to Newark, N.J. "What can you do? It's the holidays and bad weather. That's how travel goes," said traveler Lory Smith, of Cranston.

Others will wait in limbo to find out what they face at the airport, knowing they will still have to go through it all over again at their connection.
