A former Pop Warner cheer coach has been arrested for allegedly posing as a young woman and tricking teenage football players to masturbate for him online. 22-year-old Andrew DeMello was arrested Tuesday night by Taunton Police and arraigned Wednesday on 3 counts of possession of child pornography.
DeMello was a cheer coach for Pop Warner in Taunton and spent one season coaching at Friedman Middle School. The investigation began when members of the Pop Warner board went to police and said DeMello had confessed to having a phony facebook page as a woman. A boyfriend of one of the board members daughter, told police that he and other football players had posed for this phony facebook account who they thought was a 19-year-old woman. The 13-year-old player said he and other members of his team masturbated over skype.
Police conducted a search of DeMello's computer and found images of the naked boys.
