27 year old council member James Diossa won last night's special election for mayor in Central Falls. He defeated former Police Chief Joseph Moran 1,076-650.
Diossa will complete the term of former mayor Charles Moreau who resigned last September after pleading guilty to a federal corruption charge.
Central Falls is currently being run by a receiver. A fiscal crisis forced the state to take over in 2010. Central Falls declared bankruptcy resulting in layoffs, tax increases and pension cuts.
