EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Pawtucket Credit Union at 339 Newport Avenue was robbed late Tuesday afternoon, and police say the robber matches the description of the "Bearded Bandit". The bandit is wanted for eight other robberies in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Police say around 4 p.m., the bandit walked into Pawtucket Credit Union on Newport Avenue in East Providence. Police say the man told a teller that he had a weapon, but did not display it.
When the teller gave him money, the bandit left the bank on foot with an indeterminate amount of cash.
Police say the robbery was conducted in a manner similar to the bandit's other robberies.
It is unclear at this time if the bandit used a getaway vehicle, but police say they are trying to track him down.
This latest robbery comes on the heels of another bank robbery that the "Bearded Bandit" is suspected of.
ABC6 News will have more details on this story as it develops.
