Women from across America are in Providence this week competing in a pageant, Miss Wheelchair America. The competition also gives contestants a chance to give of themselves,they're mentoring children with and without disabilities .Miss wheel chair New York Pamela hall, a former teacher- lost the ability to walk after a car accident .she's says the chance to interact with children again is exhilarating.
She says, it makes me happy,and it helps me with my confidence and it helps me come out of my box, of things that I;lm not use to doing"
Organizers of the pageant say that all contestants in the Miss Wheelchair America pageant are winners-they all can't wear the crown but they come away with much more than a title they'll pick the winner Saturday in a ceremony hosted by our own John Deluca.
