Airplane goes down into Block Island Sound

Officials say a small plane flying from Westerly Airport to Block Island went down into Block Island Sound.

The Coast Guard says the plane was towing a banner with the words "will you marry me" when they received a mayday distress call.

A jet from Cape Cod and a 27 foot boat from Pt. Judith responded.

By the time they arrived Coast Guard say a good Samaritan rescued the pilot.

The Coast Guard say the pilot is okay but no word on the condition of the plane.
