Massachusetts House lawmakers have okayed the casino compact between the state and The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. A senate vote is expected for Thursday.
Several legislators wanted to amend the compact, hoping to add a two-year deadline for the tribe, to win federal approval for placing the land they want to build on in a trust. But, leaders barred any amendments to the compact, forcing a 'yay' or 'nay' vote.
