A 12 year old girl called 911 when she saw her 14 -year old friend run from his house on Althea street in Providence. Neleh Thomas says ,"he came outside, he had no shirt on I was going to help him but the other people started to help him.Thankfully fire crews arrived and quickly put the fire out. Firefighters say her quick thinking probably saved lives.The owner of the house Louisa Silverio ,the boys mother, made it out safely, but collapsed outside. She went to Rhode Island hospital, was treated and released. A firefighter was also treated for minor burns and released. Firefighters say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
