
A budget commission will now manage Woonsocket's finances. Woonsocket's city council voted Sunday to ask the state to appoint the commission, after the house decided to table a 13-percent supplemental property tax increase for the city.
Governor Chafee made the announcement yesterday, that the commission will take control of the city's finances and deal with a 10-million dollar budget hole in the school department.
This is the third municipality in Rhode Island to be run by a state budget commission.
