Parishioners and those who worked for Father Lolio at our Lady of Mercy in East Greenwich are still reeling from the news of the death of the 68-year old priest.
Monsignor John Lolio died early Sunday morning at Our Lady of Mercy parish from injuries he suffered when he fell and hit his head.
Jeanne Chapelle worked for Father Lolio for twenty years. The untimely death of the 68-year old priest has been hard for her and her family to accept.
"He was a very caring warm gentle person, always willing to listen to people, if someone went in to talk to him, you always came out feeling much better," she recalled.
Father Lolio obtained Monsignor status, a title that can only be bestowed by the Pope.
Church Officials say the funeral for Father Lolio will be at the end of the week.
