The Salvation army Kettles are out during the Easter Holiday

It's a sound usually heard during the December holiday season,

Salvation Army kettles were out in Cumberland and Lincoln looking for donations.

Officials say there's a reason for the collections in the spring,Steven Williams of the Salvation army says, there's real need for donations have been down across the board with different agencies.

Shoppers at the Seabra Market in Cumberland and the Stop and Shop in Lincoln were surprised to see the kettles, One shopper said didn't believe it was legitimate and checked with the manager.

When she found the kettles were for real, she happily gave. Another shopper was not happy to see the kettles, saying they should be strictly for Christmas. The Kettles will be out through out the Easter season
