PawSox Double Up the Bisons on Opening Night

PawSox take Bisons on Opening Night

 

The Pawtucket Red Sox topped Buffalo 4-2 in front on nearly 8900 fans on Opening Night at McCoy Stadium.  Justin Germano (1-0) earned the win with 5 solid innings of work.  The righty allowed a pair of hits, both solo home runs, striking out two.  Junichi Tazawa tossed two shutout innings of relief, with 4 punch outs and Garrett Mock notched the save with two scoreless innings of relief.

     

Leadoff hitter Pedro Ciriaco went 4-5 in his PawSox debut.  Ciriaco had 2 RBI and a stolen base, as well.  Mauro Gomez and Jason Repko each knocked in a run and third baseman Will Middlebrooks had three hits.

 

The win is the seventh consecutive opening day victory for Pawtucket.  The series continues on Friday night at 6:15 p.m.  Brandon Duckworth faces Jeurys Familia of the Bisons.
