EAST PROVIDENCE, RI-- Two dozen positions have been cut from the East Providence school district's special education department.

Now each case worker will be held responsible for 15 students rather than eight.

The district expects to save $1.2 million by cutting such positions. 

This is one of many actions that are being taken by the East Providence School Committee to reduce their multi-million dollar deficit since last December.
