A New England native, John was born in Worcester and grew up in Rhode Island. He graduated from Cranston East High School and URI.
John began his career at ABC6 in 1999, after working as a sportscaster at WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi and as a news reporter and fill-in anchor at KMPH-TV in Fresno, California.
